Notebooks of James Erskine (1730-1761), Burgher minister at Stirling
Scope and Contents
Two notebooks, written almost entirely in shorthand but with some titles in English and Latin. Both bear the former shelfmark 'MH.2/7'
MS ERS J1.1 - 1746. Containing a note on the front board 'James Erskine, his Book. February 26 1746. Lectures and Sermons by my Father [Ralph Erskine]'. Some slips and additions pinned in place.
MS ERS J1.2 - 1748. Front board has an extended index in Latin, but rest of the volume is shorthand. Back board has the name 'R. Meikljohn' in a more modern hand.
