Scope and Contents

Manuscript volume titled, 'The life of Mr John Livingstone minister of the Gospell from the principall writ by himselfe and compaired-'.Comprised of 6 sections:

1. 'The life of Mr John Livingstone.' pp. 1-120 2. 'Ane account of what past when Mr John Livingstone appeared before ye councill in the lower councill house of Edinburgh 11 of December 1662 at which tyme they banished him.' pp.121-134 3.'The substance of a discourse had by Mr John Livingstone in the pulpit to his parish of Ancram forseeing his separation from it...13 October 1662, etc.' pp.135-154 4. 'Mr John Livingstone his first letter to his parish before his departure forth of the kingdome on his banishment, etc.' pp. 155-168 5. 'A letter, written by that famous and faithful minister of Christ Mr John Livingstoun, unto his parishioners of Ancram in Scottland.' 1671. Rotterdam. [printed] pp. 169-184 6. Ownership inscription on the first page, 'Thos McCrie his Book 1726'. Family geneology information about the Lundin family recorded on the flyleaf, with a note that says, 'The said Anna Elizabeth Lundin her book left her by her mother who died the June 11 1700'. Bound in leather with the initials 'I.L.A.' stamped on the front cover (likely referring to Anna and John Lundin mentioned in the geneology).
