Scope and Contents
12 manuscript notebooks of sermons given by John McDonald at Dubbieside [Inverleven] and Thurso.
Arranged approximately in chronological order, with all sections of text made up from a combination of standard writing and short hand.
Each volume has a short contents list on the boards, outlining which biblical passages are referenced. MS MCD 5.1 - MS MCD 5.11 are written from both the front and the back, whilst MS MCD 5.12 is written from just the front.
The boards are layered card, and most volumes are roughly quarter bound in leather. MS MCD 5.11 is half bound in a finer style than the rest.
MS MCD 5.3 has "John McDonald, Dubbieside, July 2 1804" on the inside front board, and "John McDonald, Dubbieside, June 30 1804" on the inside back board.
MS MCD 5.4 has "I have had as yet no news from the Synod" on the outside front board.
MS MCD 5.7 has "26 January 1808" on the inside front board
MS MCD 5.10 has "5 April 1818" on the inside front board and " 30 August 1818" on the inside back board
MS MCD 5.11 has "18 April 1819" on the inside front board
MS MCD 5.12 has "2 February 1823" on the inside front board
