Testimonial addresses to Rev Dr Robert MacDonald (1813-1893), minister of North Leith Free Church
Scope and Contents
Scroll containing two rolled folio.
The first folio is an illuminated testimonial address to Rev. Dr. Robert Macdonald on the occasion of his moderatorship of the Free Church General Assembly, 1882-1883. The text is a clear italic in black ink, with titles and key achievements highlighted in a combination of red, yellow, blue and metallics.
At the left of the page is floral imagery in black line, with a medallion of the burning bush and the phrase 'nec tamen consumebatur'. The signatures of Dr. Alexander Whyte and William Ferguson of Kinmundy are at the foot of the page, dated 4 June 1883.
The second folio is a list of subscribers who contributed to the sum of £3450 gifted to MacDonald on this occasion. This list is much plainer, although arranged neatly in black and red ink.
