Scope and Contents

Two items belonging to Rev. William McKillican (1776-1849).

MS MCK 4.1:

Journal, dated January 1802 - April 1804. The volume is a quarto with 80 unnumbered pages, and was rebound in the 20th Century. There is significant damage causing text loss, particuarly at the start and end of the manuscript. The journal was later published (McKillican, William, et al. Journal of William McKillican, January 1802-April 1804. Congregational Union of Scotland, 1994.

MS MCK 4.2.1-2:

Composite volume. The bulk is made up of sermon outlines, December 1805 - at least September 1806, with several subsequent undated entries. The volume is a quarto with 61 unnumbered pages, and was rebound in the 20th Century. There is significant damage causing text loss, particuarly at the start and end of the manuscript. The outlines were later published in an appendix to the 1994 Journal.

At the end of the volume, an additional 6 pages are bound in. These are a memorial of Daniel McKillican (1817-c.1830, son of William), written by his mother, Christina McNaughton (1778-1858, wife of William) in March 1836.
