Sermons of George Meldrum (1634-1709), minister of the Tron Kirk, Edinburgh
Scope and Contents
Sermons of George Meldrum (1634-1709), Minister of the Tron Kirk, Edinburgh.
First entry dated 16 June 1706, and final entry dated September 1708. Entries are not consistently spaced between these dates, with several months sometimes passing between some entries.
Each sermon is dated, and is titled with a biblical passage.
A note on page 303 implies that it is Meldrum authoring the volume himself, rather than a scribe noting down his sermons. It reads:
'Nota: In appril about [th]e time of [th]e Gen[eral] Ass[embly] oyr ministers preached for me and about the Comm: in Edi[nburgh], in ayr, and in Liberton in June. I preached on oyr Texts q[ua]ch are in ano[the]r book.'
Quarto volume with quarter bound leather and marbled paper boards. Faint evidence of gilding and tooled title on spine.
Front flyleaf bears 'No. 10th' in a large hand, and 'Ink and pens and paper' in a more recent script.
