Scope and Contents
MS MIL 1.1
Volume containing handwritten holograph copies of 232 letters between Hugh Miller and a number of correspondents from 1825 to 1839. Correspondents include William Ross, John Swanson, George Anderson, Robert Carruthers, Mrs. Dunbar of Boath, the Duke of Wellington, Thomas Dick Lauder, the Very Reverend Principal Baird, and others. There are also a number of poems and a few drawings throughout.
Two letters in an envelope to Dr. Mitchell Hunter from Henry Hindley regarding the sale of the book to New College, May - June 1936, are laid in the front of the volume. Also, there is an additional note that says a detailed list of contents of the letter book can be found in the correspondence of J.V. Howard and Michael Shortland (University of Sydney), Nov 1990 - Jan 1991.
Volume bound in tooled leather.
