Title reads 'Extracts from journal letters addressed to Anne Dirom, now Mrs Muir'
Entries are mostly handwritten transcripts of letters from William Muir to Anne Muir, with supplementary information added by an editor (presumed to be Anne). Entries begin prior to their marriage in 1844, and continue until 1864, a few years before William's death.
The first entry is a short note regarding the sending of the volume from Anne Muir to Janet Lang in 1879. The envelope is pasted in. On the opposite page, the volume's custodial history from creation through to 1944 is listed.
