Scope and Contents
Notebook with the name James McGregor 1778 in the front. Notes written in both Latin and English in different hands.
Miscellaneous content, including:
Tracts in Latin,
Sermon by John Wood, minister in Dunino, St Andrews, 25 September 1655,
Sermons by Laurence Charters or Charteris, St Andrews, 19 November 1650 and 8 March 1651,
Copies of various letters and proclamations 1649-1684.
Bound in leather with the initials WFM stamped on the front and back covers.
A provenance note in Scottish Gaelic reads:
“Fhuair Seumas McGriogair an leabhar so am Peairt am Bliadhna ar Tighearna 1778 ar son 2sc[illin]”
Translation: “James MacGregor bought this book in Perth in the Year of our Lord 1778 for 2 pence.”
