Manuscript volumes of Rev. William McCulloch
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of three manuscript volumes of notes and sermons by Rev. William McCulloch, Minister of Cambuslang, dated 1732-34 and 1742.
The 1732-34 volume (MS MCC 6.1) is labelled "Rev McCulloch / Sermons Notes / 1732" on the spine, and starts with an index entitled "In this volume are 24 Sermons preached mostly at Sacrament - occasions; the Texts, Time, and Place as follows; where note, they were all preached in the year 1732 and 1733, except [three] in 1734".
The two 1742 volumes (MS MCC 6.2-3) are labelled "McCulloch / Cambuslang Revival 1741-42" on the spine, and relate to the revival led by Rev. William McCulloch in Cambuslang. They are entitled "Examinations of persons under spiritual concern at Cambuslang, during the revival, in 1741-42, by the Revd. William Macculloch minister of Cambuslang, with marginal notes by Dr. Webster and other ministers." Manuscript and letters in more than one hand. Both volumes have manuscript pagination and contain an index of personal names.

Custodial History
Note on verso of first blank page of the sermons volume (MS MCC 6.1): "Mrs. H.D. Swan, Sermons by Revd McCulloch, Cambuslang, from his granddaughter Mrs. Coutts."
Letters and notes regarding the donation of the manuscript tipped in at the beginning of vol. I of "Cambuslang Revival" (MS MCC 6.2): "These 2 (4to) vols of M.S.S were long in the family of Mr Maculloch of Cambuslang (& are in his own writing) they were afterds in the possession of his son the late Rev. Dr Maculloch minister of Dairsie (in Fife) & were after his death presented lately to the Free Church College in Edinr. by his surviving daughter - Mrs. Coutts. 13 June 1845." Is also enclosed one letter by Mrs I. Coutts to the "Library of the Free Church" (New College Library), dated 7 May 1844, and a list of the 34 items she donated.
