Lecture notes from the time when Robison was Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. The notes embrace the sciences of mechanics, hydrodynamics, astronomy and optics, together with electricity and magnetism.

It is assumed that these are Robison's own notes but this has not been verified.

Scope and Contents The letter was written in St. Petersburg, on Grande Morskaia (Bolshaia Morskaia, or Morskaya Street), on 2nd or 15th May 1901, by W. Sedgefield, and addressed to his 'Dear Uncle', W. J. Sedgefield, Esq., Abingdon, Berkshire, England. The envelope, with franking and partial postage stamp, survives. This is a first quality Victorian family photograph album of the family of Eliza Murphy, daughter of Calvert Toulmin who was a shipowner holding the monopoly of postal carriage to Australia.

In addition to 196 'carte de visite' photographs of family members including Calvert Toulmin, of holiday destinations and of sentimental group poses, the album contains 57 photographs of Russian tradesmen and street vendors taken by William Carrick.
