Scope and Contents Three copies of manuscript letters from Christopher Murray Grieve (Hugh MacDiarmid) to Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji are dated 25 May 1926 from Montrose, 5 January 1932 from London, and 19 August 1955 from Lanarkshire. The letter from 25 May 1926 had been sent to Sorabji through the New Age. Three editions the Macfarlan's Illustrated Family Paper, from 1 May 1855, 1 June 1855, and 2 July 1855. The newspapers are entirely hand-written or hand-drawn, including illustrations. Topics discussed include, among other things: events relating to the Crimean war such as the siege of Sevastopol and the Hango Head massacre; the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1855; the Exposition Universelle of 1855 (as international exhibition held in Paris). The newspapers are beautifully illustrated.
