Discussion includes repetitive experiments of the strength of timbers such as oak, and what should be done to properly cultivate woods in soil.

MS ELD 1: A commonplace book from 1834. Volume is primarily handwritten, with a clipping of a recipe for bread pasted to the back board.
MS ELD 2: A scrap book of newspaper cuttings, c. 1830-1840. Cuttings are pasted into the volume, and are mostly of topographical interest.
