Note about dogs dying and accompanying story about a faithful dog collected from Duncan Macniven 'Don[nachadh] Pharuig', aged 88, Airds, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire. Duncan tells how dogs go away from home to die and that shepherds know this to be the case. He also tells how a man in Glencoe [Gleann Comhann] went to work in England and every day at the same time his dog went out to wait for him and wept until it eventually died.
Note entitled 'Wolves', c1892
Note entitled 'Wolves' stating that there was a hospital in Flixton, Folkton, Yorkshire [Sasainn/England] 'to preserve travellers from being devoured by the wolves and other wild beasts of the district.' This was said to be in the time of Athelstane and Carmichael adds a reminder to 'See Leprosey (sic)'. Text has been scored through in pencil.

The top images shows, J C Gillam's horse, "Donovan" jumping a fence and which was the winner of the Palace Ladies' hunting contest. The bottom image shows W E Hamer's horse, "Alaska" jumping a fence, but failed to make the final.
