Charm entitled 'Eolas a Chrannachain' collected from Margaret Macdonald, age 80, Howgearry, North Uist [Hogha Gearraidh/Hogharry, Uibhist a Tuath] beginning 'Tha glug a seo tha glag a seo' which was said while churning, keeping in time with the loinid [churn-staff]. The second part of the charm, which is said while finishing the churning begins 'Thuig a storm thuig'. A note in the margin reads 'Action song'.

The notebook is inscribed on the front inside cover with the following: 'Scrap Book MS No1 Alex[ander] Carmichael (of Lismore) Inland Revenue Lochmaddy N[orth] Uist] 1864'. On the recto side of the fly leaf is written 'Angus MacDonald Staoinebrig tale teller' and on the verso side of the fly leaf is written 'Bought at Drew's Saint columb Cornwall this 17 day of Nov[ember] 1864 A. A. Carmichael p2/3'....

It gives the names of the different seals which go to the minister, the blacksmith and the people of Boreray [Boraraigh].

She is said to have built Kille moire at Howgeary [Cille Mhoire/Kilmuir, Hogha Gearraidh/Hougharry] while Clan MacVicar are said to have been burnt by her in Uamh airi nam faochag [Uamh Àirigh nam Faochag].
