Archaeological note about a taigh talamh [earth house] on Sanndray, 1867
Archaeological note about a taigh talamh [earth house] on Sanndray [Sanndraigh/Sandray], probably collected from Roderick MacNeil, aged 88, crofter, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay. It is described as big enough for a man to stand up in with many chambers, situated about three quarters of a mile north west of the Dùn [Dùn Mhic Rìgh na Sorach].

Note about stones which create echoes which reads 'Two rocks in San[dray] [Sanndraigh] which ans[wer] to each other E[ast] S[outh] E[ast] end. Ciste na Clithe in Bar[ra] [Ciste na Cli'eann, Barraigh/Isle of Barra] Vaslan [Vaslain] (Fala = creag) An echo here.'

Note about two 'Leaba chrabhai in Sanntrai' [leaba-chràbhaidh, Sanndraigh/Sandray], that anyone who lay on them would be sterile and that some 'had the temerity to try the exper[iment]'. Vocabulary note that 'Leab-eileac = Leaba chrab[haidh]' and that there are another two stones in Miulay [Miùghlaigh/Mingulay] which were left by the Lochlannaich [vikings].

Tobar Eachainn is named after Eachin mac mhic ic Neil and noted as 'cover[ed] over with slats beyond Vatersay Ho[use]'. Tota Chrissein is noted as being used 'in Mr Alastair's time. He put his first child in it'.
