Field notebook belonging to Alexander Carmichael. The marjority of the notebook relates to material collected in Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire but there are a number of loose leaves at the end which contain an account of a journey from Uibhist/Uist through An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye, during which time his wife, Mary is in Edinburgh and is pregnant. Story collected from Duncan Carmichael, Lios Mòr/Lismore, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire, about archaeological finds at a grave at Tirefour. The finds were a gold candle, a hammer and a coin 'of anc[ient] date' which were sent to Lochnell 'along with two heads of bisons of im[mense] size' and which were there during 'the General's time'.
