One of them had a colt, which the other one wanted to buy for twenty pounds Scots. The brother refused but said he would take a pound sterling for it which was worth more than twenty pounds Scots. Story about the 'Taoitear Saileach' [Taoitear t-Sàileach or Kintail Tutor] probably collected from Kenneth Morrison, Trithean/Trien, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye. The story begins by saying that An Taoitear t-Sàileach was a very bad man and quoting part of a saying in which he is described as one of the tree worst things about Scotland, the others being May frost and July fog. Story entitled 'Am Britheamh Leothasach' collected from Coinneach Moireastan [Kenneth Morrison], Trithean near Carbost [Trien, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye]. The story tells how Am Britheamh Leòdhasach was a very bad man and that he once had a dream that John MacLeod was going to decapitate him. He went to MacLeoid Leothais [MacLeòid Leòdhais or MacLeod of Lewis] and told him about his dream. MacLeod asked him what to do about it and Am Britheamh suggested rounding up all the John...

Transcription notebook belonging to Alexander Carmichael. The majority of the volume has been used but intermittently there are groups of blank folios. Carmichael appears to have written in the book in the 1860s creating sections of different genres at different stages in the volume, with pages left blank in between to fill up appropriately. In about 1875 he has then used some of these blank pages to transcribe notes and stories but has not kept to the genres sections he initially created....
