        Etymological and geographical note collected from Hector MacLeod, aged 85, at Caisteal Bhuirgh/Borve Castle, Lionacleit/Linaclate, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula stating that Creaga Loisgte got its name from being the place where kelp was first burnt, by an Irishman called Ruari na Luath. He had come to the islands to teach kelp-making. Hector says that this was the best place for giomaich and crubagan [lobster and crab] and that potatos and bere [barley] are now grown there.
