Book of Anecdotes, Quotations, etc., formerly (but no longer) attributed to Esther Inglis. It is in French, in ornamental styles of writing, with illuminations. There is a prayer at the beginning, with ornamental border, bearing to be written at Barnetoun by Mr. W. Geddy. In a paper fastened to the board some notes.

This is a protective scroll. It begins with an illumination in yellow, blue, brown and black, featuring three figures and a type of ornate cross. There are five sections of text down the length of the scroll, each separated by an illumination. There are six illuminations in total. They feature human images, crosses and patterns. Specialist research is needed.

An Ethiopic codex and scroll, together in a small leather pouch.

The codex contains ʾArdǝʾt (‘The Disciples’) a magico-apocryphal text. This is the Christian recension (as opposed to the Beta ʾƎsrāʾel/Ethiopian Jewish recension).


The second item is a protective scroll.

1901 work in the form of an illuminated manuscript of the poem The Eve of Saint Agnes, by John Keats. The bound volume is of fourteen pages of vellum.

Work demonstrates Oppenheimer's craftsmanship and skill and improving drawing. It is not known whether the item was a commission, an academic exercise or business sample.
