The text contained in MS 143 is a copy of the work by 14th-century French cardinal and canon lawyer, Pierre Bertrand, titled Libellus de iuridictione ecclesiastica. Bertrand was active in the court of Philip V of France, and served as chancellor to Queen Joan of Burgundy, and also endeavoured on several diplomatic missions for the papacy.
