Scope and Contents Archaeological note about Mor nan Ceann U-i-nieasain/Naonisein, [Caibeal Moire nan Ceann or Caibeal Bhrianain, Uineasan, Bhatarsaigh/Vatersay] describing it as a burial place '29 x 11 [feet]' and the caibeal [chapel] in which people were buried as having fallen down. The size and composition of the ruins are described as is its situation and the surrounding area including details such as 'once a bury[ing] place now a rabbit warren...an island at high water and at low forms part of the Island...

Carmichael also notes 'Leachain Hough us Hosta near Cill a Mhoiri an Colasay - Hough name of place where Temple is.' [Colbhasa/Colonsay, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire]

Archaeological note and diagram of Leaba mhiosachain at Craoineval [Leaba a' Mhiosachan, Craonabhal/Craonaval, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist] described as being halfway up the north west shoulder of the hill. Carmichael describes a heather-covered circle which 'seems underground' in the centre of which is a cist. At the end of the leaba is another cist. The dimensions of the leaba are noted on the diagram and noted as being outside on the lower side is a standing stone.

Archaeological note about Cladh Chriosd [Cladh Chrìosd, Bhatarsaigh/Vatersay] describing a stone there as having had a cross cut into it and that there is a very small hut where the bishop lived with a square stone on which he rested his book. The story describes how people used young cattle into the hut but that none ever came out alive.

Scope and Contents Archaeological note and story about the Carradh in Bearnary [Beàrnaraigh/Berneray] stating that it had writing on it which no one could read except one priest by the name of Ailein Donullach [Allan MacDonald] who could speak twelve languages. The story tells how a crew of fishermen who were stranded on Berneray amused themselves 'by shaking the carradh pillar to and fro. Scope and Contents Archaeological note entitled 'Hoilisgeir' [possibly Trolaisgeir/Trollasker, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist], which reads 'Remains of house eye of Kiln + fire place (sorn) + dyke on top of Pabby Harris 50 acres lost.' [Pabbay, Na Hearadh/Isle of Harris]. The note also states that there is lime on ruins at Kildonan [Cill Donnain, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] and that a Mrs Macgill[ivra]y said she saw it when she was a 'lassie' and that it had 'tangles sticking out'. A cook at Milton [Àirigh Mhuilinn]...

Archaeological note on a burial site at Dungaineach [Dùn Gaimhnich/Dunganichy, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula] stating that it is at the 'bealaich on the machair' and that beside it was a heap of bones and ashes. The graves are surrounded 'by stones on edge with lintels across top of the lintels [causewayed] over with small peb[bles] carefully.' Carmichael adds that there is a similar place at Carnan Dhiarma[i]d in Iocar [Ìochdar, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist]

Archaeological note on Tarasaigh/Taransay sites exposed by coastal erosion describing how faces of the bank are left exposed by the sea and how layers of shells and darker sand with the ends of buildings can be seen and how 'By the side of some old and beautifully built expose[d] wall is the root of the gallan at least 4f[ee]t down fr[om the] sun.'

Scope and Contents Archaeological note relating to a stone found on Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula by Archibald MacRury, Bailevanaich [Baile Mhanaich/Balivanich] described as being a small stone with a hole and found in the strand at half-tide 'just below tunga' that summer at Ua Oirisy Mianaish an underground cave between Roisnish and Scarigleoid [Uamh Orasaigh Mheanais, Orasaigh, Meanais, Ròisnis/Rossinish and Sgaraileòd].
