Amateur Theatre

Scope and Contents The collection is composed of: an archive of productions of 'Varsity Vanities', 1946-48, and various dramatic groups including Edinburgh University Dramatic Society, SRC Charities Week Office, Attic Theatre Co., Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group, and others.
The material is placed in two photograph albums and a "document store", which contain photographs, programmes, cuttings, posters and correspondence.

Scope and Contents This is the Edinburgh University Magazine Festival Review printed in August 1950. On page 29 and 30, there is an article about the Edinburgh University Dramatic Society's production of "King Lear" as well as an advertisment for the play.

Scope and Contents This is "The Student" magazine printed 5 December 1950. On page 187, there is a first nigth review for "The Man Who Came to Dinner" at the Little Theatre from 15 to 18 November 1950.

Scope and Contents This is "The Student" magazine printed 13 February 1951. On page 318, there is a review of the Edinburgh University Dramatic Society's production of "King Richard III" at htee Little Theatre from 6 to 10 February 1951.

Scope and Contents This is a zoomed in copy of an advertisement for "What Say They?" in the Evening Dispatch printed 9 November 1948.

Scope and Contents This is a carbon copy of the cast list and programme for the Masson Hall production of "Lady Precious Stream" from 24 to 25 February 1948. There are some handwritten notes on the cast list.

Scope and Contents This sketch-book contains drawings of costumes for various Edinburgh University student productions. There are also notes about the costume and fabric.

Scope and Contents This is a black and white photograph showing a male student in the foreground with other students behind him at the Little Theatre for the Varsity Vanities production from 28 April to 3 May 1947. They are participating in "Join the Frivolity".
