Scope and Contents This volume contains a copy of William Baston's poem on the Battle of Bannnockburn, with some other verses on Bannockburn. Baston was an English friar and poet that Edward II brought north with him to write a poem commemorating his expected triumph over the Scots. Baston was captured and Robert the Bruce decided that his ransom should be a poem celebrating the Scots victory.
