Scope and Contents Most likely a facsimile of an engraving portrait of Allan Ramsay by George Vertue and engraved by Smibert. Ramsay built the original Ramsay Lodge (nicknamed "The Goosepie") in his youth. Engraving, "J. Smibert P(inxit), Geo. Vertue S(culpit )." Number on back: A3. Scope and Contents Most likely a facsimile of an engraving portrait of Allan Ramsay. The poet aged 39, painted by Aikman in 1723, "Allan Ramsay - William Aikman (pinxit), William Howison (sculpit). Published by Blackie & Son, Glasgow, Edinburgh & London." The picture has a rounded top and has obviously been removed from a book.
