Scope and Contents Correspondence, data and research notes, dated 1957-1959. The material consists of exchanges between Edward Appleton and C.P. Bell, who was at that time a research student working with W.E.J. Farvis in the Department of Electrical Engineers at Edinburgh. The material includes copies of some of Edward Appleton's letters to C.P. Farvis to Edward Appleton asking to repeat a course of lectures for the Diploma Course on the Ionosphere at University of Edinburgh, 1953; 2 sequences of manuscript notes by Appleton, both headed 'Lecture (1)’; ‘A note on some approximate ionospheric theorems’, a typescript and manuscript draft for a paper, however no paper of that title is listed amongst Appleton’s publications. The material is in its original folder.
