Edinburgh Zoo

A collection of lantern slides, possibly taken by Mary Elizabeth Gillespie, Thomas Gillespie's wife. The photographs are mainly of animals at Edinburgh Zoo. Further details of individual slides can be found at item level.

There are two glass plate negative collections in this box, the first being glass plate negatives which are among the most damaged of the collection. They are fragile with flaked emulsion and/or stuck together. Digital copies of these images are available. More information on the individual slides can be found at item level. The second is a collection of rodent photographs.

Souvenir programme for the Grand Midsummer Carnival and Fancy Fair, in aid of the developemnt fund, held in the Zoological Park, 15th - 18th June, 1927.

A catalogue showing the lots which were available as part of a silent auction by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to celebrate 100 years of Edinburgh Zoo.
