Letter book of the short-lived mining company Glenbuck Ironworks, which was active from 1795 to 1813 in the village of Glenbuck, in East Ayrshire. Glenbuck Ironworks was a subsidiary of an English company, Glenbuck Iron Company.

Scope and Contents This is a photograph album recording the First World War work of the Falkirk Iron Company, a cast iron goods manufacturer that switched to the production of munitions in 1915. The photographer is not named. As a "Government Controlled Establishment", the Falkirk Iron Company produced 10,000 tons of munitions, many of these delivered by women, who feature prominently in the photographs. Scope and Contents This dark red Notebook starts in London with Mary and Leonard Lyell, and documents travels in Pembrokeshire, Wales, with an index created by Arabella Buckley. Lyell studies submerged forests, beaches, caves and iron works making notes and sketches, and referencing experts as well as local guides. Several meetings 'with Darwin'. Final pages relate to Grindle Pit, Bury St Edmunds, with sections written by Buckley that appear to be dictated by Lyell. ...
