Scope and Contents

Two manuscript volumes on Scottish law. The first one reads 'Treatise on Bills, [written] by John Mein Writer to the Signet'. The manuscript dates from c. 1740 and bears the ink ownership signature of Henry Home, later Lord Kames (1696-1782). The second manuscript just starts with the word 'Case' and describes a series of cases dating from 1760s-1810s.

Scope and Contents Notes are in various hands, mainly consisting of figures and costs for changes to or expansion of various departments, including the Anatomical School, Physiology Department, Surgery and Clinical Surgery, Chair of Mercantile Law. Also contains a copy of the 'Requirements of the Various Departments in the Faculty of Medicine' drawn up for presentation to the University Court on 30 October 1901. The material is undated, but it likely dates from the period in early July 1903 when...

Manuscript volume containing notes on law, with annotations in pencil in a different hand. This is the volume 2, starting on p. 293. Volume 1 is missing.


The volume is signed by 'William Thomson', in the same hand as the pencil annotations. The volume is likely to have belonged to him at one point.
