Scope and Contents Catalogue of rare books acquired using money from the bequest of General John Reid. Reid bequeathed a large sum to the University in 1838 primarily to endow a Chair of Music, and in 1841 part of this money was assigned by the Senate to the Library's book purchase fund. The latest publication date of books recorded in the catalogue would appear to be c1866.
