Note about Eaglais na h-Aoi, 29 August 1868
Note collected from Angus MacAulay, aged 82, An Cnoc/Knock, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis about Eaglais na h-Aoi [Eaglais na h-Aoidhe] that it is the oldest church and burying place in the Isle of Lewis and is connected with St Columba. Also notes that John Wylie [built it], that he had a house in Stornoway [Steòrnabhagh] and that he was one of the people who had come from Fife [Fiobha].

Note about Invernahyle House, [An Apainn/Appin, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] describing the remains of the old house and its connections with Sir Walter Scott. He also states that the nearby Craobh a' Phrionnsa and Uamh Phrionnsa were both hiding places for Prince Charles Edward Stuart.

Note that Prince Charles [Edward Stuart] slept in a now ruined house in an unnamed place [possibly Scalpaigh/Scalpay]. The site of the house is noted as a 'square plate of freestone'.

Note about Taransay House, Tarasaigh/Taransay describing its dimensions, construction and estimating it to have been built about three hundred years before [c1570]. Also mentioned is the 'fine large garden [of] good soil but ill cultivated' which leads on to a description of the land quality on the island, the presence of lazybeds and the 'Beautiful grazing...espe[cially] at Aoi Paible and Rà good water' [Uidh, Paibeil and Raah].

Note about the Abrach describing it as 'the one with the long sgonan tied to the rafter. The abrach sits upon a lè'un [Beristis] the cros-bar in up & mialaire the perpendicular going thro[ugh] the lower [griern].' The legibility of this text is poor.
