Story entitled 'Starsach Meall Vat[ersay]', which tells how a father [presumably at Am Meall, Bhatarsaigh/Vatersay] sent his son to Maoldonaich [Maol Dòmhnaich] for leagan [leacan or large, flat stones] to put under a slab that was going to be made into a doorstep [starsach] and when he saw that the son's stone was larger than his he killed his son.

Scope and Contents

Story relating to Fuday [Fuideigh] in which the illegitimate son of MacNeil of Barra, Mac an Amhuris, avenges the abduction of his daughter by Lochlannaich [Vikings] by going to Fuday and killing them all. The remains of the Lochlannaich periodically washed up on shore. Two boys found gold on Fuday, which, after the death of their father, who had persuaded them to keep the gold, they used to buy property in Cape Breton, Canada following their emigration.

The story tells how Odar was a ferocious robber and that Ma'g'Onuil Nan Eileanann [MacDonald of the Isles] put up money for whoever would kill Odar. Mac Uistean Ghrimininis, a friend of MacDonald's eventually caught Odar and chopped off his head.
