Three editions the Macfarlan's Illustrated Family Paper, from 1 May 1855, 1 June 1855, and 2 July 1855. The newspapers are entirely hand-written or hand-drawn, including illustrations. Topics discussed include, among other things: events relating to the Crimean war such as the siege of Sevastopol and the Hango Head massacre; the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1855; the Exposition Universelle of 1855 (as international exhibition held in Paris). The newspapers are beautifully illustrated.

Photograph of the House of the Fawn, Pompeii, Italy. This building is so called from the statue found on the Pedestal at the back of the Impluvium. The first part is the Atrium with the Impluvium & chamber for servants,the second is the Peristyleum surrounded with colonnade with the appartments of the family.
