Scope Note: Subnormal intellectual functioning which originates during the developmental period. This has multiple potential etiologies, including genetic defects and perinatal insults. Intelligence quotient (IQ) scores are commonly used to determine whether an individual has an intellectual disability. IQ scores between 70 and 79 are in the borderline range. "Dull and backward woman, her husband's second wife. Children get out of hand. Nurse thinks she is OK, decent and simple. PC confirms - husband a farm worker, used to have to get the police to her. She had a terrific temper. House not very clean. Minister confirms - a strange woman, loses control of herself times."
