"This woman gets drunk as regularly as the clock, not a desirable character, always going away for weekends. She was very rude to school teacher when daughter was specially tested - blamed teacher for child's backwardness. Husband dead, served a term for assault and battery. Family life in harmonious, but children are very clean and well looked after. They are under notice to quit their cottage. 4 rooms for 10 but very clean."

"This is a peculiar wee body, has been a secret drinker for many years, retired teacher. Lives with sister. Big house, dirty. Nurse says she is peculiar, the children laugh at her. They take boared out children. One girl is reserved and shy, the others won't mis with her because she wears old fashioned clothes and is self-conscious."

"This man is supposed to be blind, but it is generally belived that he is not so blind as he is supposed to be and has been swinging the lead for the last 12 or 13 years. Anyhow he never misses the pub door. He is difficult to get on with and now lives alone. In receipt of a Blind Person's Pension. Nurse: he is diabetic, not really blind, used to drink ++. Lives alone in a small house."

"A villainous character, a brute and a bully, drinks heavily. Clever. Has had a lot of jobs, does well for 2-3 months, then gets sacked or creates trouble. A braggart. Clever but wicked. Son [34.31], another son, very decent "a proper Jessie". Dr confirms, this man has stopped drinking and taken to bicarb. of soda - his stomach troubles him - poacher, thief, rogue, twister. Family are very nice, however."
