Scope and Contents Biographical notes on Aulay MacAulay and Tormod Clèireach [Norman MacIver], telling how Aulay MacAulay died in 1760 and that he was the son of Fear Bhreinish [Dugald MacAulay, Brenish, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis]. There is a note of a daughter who left at fifteen years old although it is not clear if it is Dugald or Aulay's daughter. Aulay is noted as having three daughters. Also mentioned is a family member living with Aulay's brother-in-law Rev Mr Hamilton at Hoy, Orkney [Arcaibh]....

Letter from John Horne, 1903

John Horne wrote to Sir Archibald Geikie on 17 July 1903, passing on various points on raised beaches which had been submitted to the Geological Survey Office for Geikie's consideration. These included the lack of beaches at Caithness, Orkney and Shetland.
