The notes include that Donald Livingstone, fought at the Battle of Culloden aged eighteen, where nine of his men were shot carrying the Prince's flag. He took the flag and 'swathed [it] round his body. Notes for 5 lectures on 'The Origin of the Scenery of the British Isles' given to the Royal Institution in 1884, along with printed abstracts. Sir Archibald Geikie focused on geological formations around the British Isles, with comparisons from European and North American locations, looking at the materials of which they are composed and the processes which went into their creation.

Note probably collected from Donald Currie, crofter, Ìle/Islay about the bird 'Fulta-flier' [fieldfare] stating that it 'came here 10 or 12 years ago [1865-1867] breast fair + yellow back dark dun Irish Sea full of them at night'.
