Natural history is also discussed, particularly a new species of Caledonian pine to be named C. Spherospherneum and a new genus of fossil to be named Lyginodendron Landsburgii Lyginos.

He goes on to discuss the contents, and its implication for his own research, in detail.

He reports that he has edited the proofs for the physical geology maps and they are going to press and that he will send copies. Meanwhile, the colour stones are being prepared. The maps of Scotland are almost ready for press, but printing has been delayed to allow for personal proofing.
