The records of the Edinburgh Plinian Society consist of a Minute Book for the period 1826-1828 and a Minute Book for the period 1828-1841. Appended to the relevant volume is a note of the references to the membership of Charles Darwin.
The papers are composed of correspondence about the acquisition of Dufresne's natural history collection by the University of Edinburgh, 1818-1821. Some are undated.
The papers consist of correspondence about natural history, and journals, from around 1828 to 1861. More particularly there is: a journal of a visit to Ireland in the form of letters from Jardine to his wife, Dk.6.20/315; draft letters and replies on a variety of subjects; note; and, volume of offprints on natural history.
