Caplet, André, 1878-1925 (composer and conductor)

André Caplet was a French composer and conductor. In 1901 he won the Prix de Rome in 1901, ahead of Maurice Ravel. He was a close friend of Debussy and orchestrated some of his works; and he served as conductor of the Boston Opera from 1910 to 1914.

Scope and Contents Letter sent by Claude Debussy to André Caplet on the 16th of November 1909. Debussy and Caplet were friends and collaborators; the latter orchastrated some of the former's works.
