Biography

Marcus Tullius Cicero was a Roman statesman, lawyer, scholar, and writer. He was born in 106 BCE in Arpinum. He was killed in 43 BCE. His writings include books of rhetoric, orations, philosophical and political treatises, and letters. He was considered a master of Latin prose and was greatly admired by influential Church Fathers such as Augustine of Hippo and St. Jerome. He was also very influential among medieval philosophers.

This section of the manuscript contains a version of De Natura Deorum ('On the Nature of the Gods') by Cicero. This text was originally written in 45 BCE and is a philosophical dialogue.


This section starts on f. 180r with the words Nam si singulas disciplinas, and ends on f. 192r with videretur esse propensior. Explicit liber de natura deorum.
