Biography

Roberto Francesco Romolo Bellarmino was a very important figure in the Counter-Reformation. He was a professor of theology who became archbishop of Capua in 1602. He was canonised in 1930. He wrote many works, some of them controversial. Among his better known writings are: Admonitio cardenalis Bellarmini ad episcopum Theanensem nepotum suum;Catechismus; De arte bene moriendi.
