Biography
Morienus was a legendary Christian hermit and alchemist from the end of the 7th century, who is said to have lived in the mountains near Jerusalem. Translations of a 'dialogue' between Morienus and Khalid ibn Yazi from Arabic into Latin in the 12th century marks the beginning of Western preoccupation with alchemy, which before that was largely unknown in medieval Central Europe.
