Scope and Contents
Notebook 179 begins in late September and ends in mid-October 1852. Lyell starts at the New York Harbour, then travels on to Albany (New York), Amherst (Massachusetts), Bellow Falls and Brandon (Vermont), and examines the boulder trails in Canaan and Richmond Valleys of Berkshire Massachusetts.
