Note: The note - for £25 in favour of 'Mr Macdonald' - carries the added inscription: 'Given to A. White Esq by John McDonald a promissory note of Sir James McIntosh [sic]'. The note is mounted on a sheet carrying handwritten biographical details of Mackintosh by Adam White.
