Lindsay, Alexander, 1752-1825 (6th Earl of Balcarres, Scottish peer, military officer, politican and colonial administrator)

Scope and Contents This collection consists of eight letters of Alexander Lindsay, 6th Earl of Balcarres, afterwards 23rd Earl of Grawford, 5 to Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville and 3 to Robert Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville. 1788-1812. All letters are signed "Balcarres". Letters 4 and 5 are written from Jamaica, the others from Edinburgh, Balcarres, and Haigh Hall. Letter 1 is a draft or copy by the Earl of the last part of a letter only, about his brother "Mr Lindsay". With letter 5 is a duplicate also...
