Biography

Born Agnes Taylor Watt at Bearsden, Dunbartonshire, on 7 March 1918, Nancy was the the third of four children of Rev. Hugh Watt and his wife, Agnes Smith Taylor. Her father's appointment as Professor of Church History at New College, Edinburgh in 1919 brought the family to Edinburgh. She was educated at Craigmount School for 13 years and then matriculated the University of Edinburgh in 1936, graduating MA in 1940.

Nancy joined the staff of the University of Edinburgh and was an Assistant Librarian by at least 1968. She later became Secretary to the Librarian, until her retiral in 1980. Most of her final years at the University were under Dick Fifoot as Librarian, overlapping only briefly with Brenda Moon. She died 2008, Edinburgh.

In 1967, Nancy became one of the first female elders of the Church of Scotland.
