Song entitled 'Lorg an Ogain' [Seathan Mac Rìgh Beirbh or John, Son of the King of Bergen] collected from Aonas Mac Aonais [Angus MacInnes], crofter, Smearclait [Smeircleit/Smerclete, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] beginning 'Lorg an ogain seach an t-ath, Air ceum romhath tha ro-dhian'. The text has been scored through in ink and a transverse note on folio 10r reads 'Transcribed into MS Book No 4 page 7. 12 Nov[ember] 1870 A[lexander]. A[rchibald]. C[armichael].' Two annotations have been added...

Song entitled 'Lorg An Ogain' collected from Aonas Mac Aonais [Angus MacInnes], crofter, Smearcleit [Smeircleit/Smercleit, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] on 13 January 1865, beginning 'Lorg an ogain seach an t-ath, An ceum ro-mhath tha ro-dhian'. The song is composed of thirty-seven lines, two lines of which have been denoted as 'Fonn'. Pencil annotations mark the text into eighteen verses. The accompanying story gives the background to the song in which someone is stealing the Fenians' food...

Story entitled 'Sgrios nam Piocach' [The Destruction of the Picts] collected from Aonas Mac Aonais [Angus MacInnes], crofter, Smearclait [Smeircleit/Smerclete, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] which tells how King Kenneth [Kenneth mac Alpin] waged war on the Picts and killed them all. Carmichael notes 'Chual Aonas Mac Aonais so bho aithait - nis na fhior shean dhuine.' [Angus heard this from his father who is now a very old man.]
