Scope and Contents Story about a sick woman in an unthatched house on Miùghlaigh/Mingulay in which Carmichael was encouraged by 'My old friend Ruary' [Roderick MacNeil] to visit the sick woman even although Carmichael did not know her as Roderick thought she would appreciated it. On arriving at the house he was surprised that the woman was young and 'comely' but saw that she was completely paralysed with rheumatism. Story collected from Ruary an Ruma [Roderick MacNeil], Miùghlaigh/Mingulay, telling how he stood on a ledge and got '8 score & 14 [birds] [larg[e] & Din] & 300 eggs. 20 score & 12 score he stearadh one day.' He adds that the dog would help him by jumping up when the birds flew. 'He lost 18 dogs with the rocks.' The text has been scored through in ink as if transcribed elsewhere.

Story about Ruary an Ruma [Roderick MacNeil, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay] telling how he had only once before had a cup of tea. Carmichael notes this as 'Strange' and on asking him how he liked the tea he had been served by the school-servant he replied 'Manamsa Dhia gu bheil gle mhath. Ach bu cho mhath liom an siucar eir uisge teth ris a so! Nach bu mhath luidh mhic Righ B[h]reitean seach an seo?'.
