The marjority of the notebook relates to material collected in Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire but there are a number of loose leaves at the end which contain an account of a journey from Uibhist/Uist through An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye, during which time his wife, Mary is in Edinburgh and is pregnant. Story entitled 'Iain Lom' collected from Duncan MacNiven, 'old schoolmaster', Cnoc na h-Aird, Taigh an Uillt/Taynuilt, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire which tells how the wife of a Campbell of Glasaruith in Killmhich[eil] [Kilmichael Glassary, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] was being harrassed by a 'cruiner' [tax-collector] in her husband's absence. Having complained to her husband he lay in wait for the tax-collector and when the tax-collector harrassed his wife he stabbed him but then fled...
